nice work, I also googled around for some I2c examples for the stm32f030 and didn't find a decent one but your example looks very promising. I tried to use it (not with the HMC5883L but with an Aardvark I2c debugger and an oscilloscope as "slave"). But up to now I don't see any I2C communication.
